FAQs

Integrative psychiatry combines traditional medicine with holistic practices to help children and families manage mental health challenges. It looks at the whole person—considering physical, emotional, social, and spiritual aspects—to promote overall well-being. This approach encourages healing, resilience, and better coping strategies, aiming not just to reduce symptoms but to understand their root causes. By using a personalized care plan, children can gain skills that support lasting mental health.
If your child faces difficulties like trouble paying attention, feeling overly sad or anxious, or struggles in school or with friends, integrative psychiatry might be beneficial. The best way to find out if it’s right for your family is to schedule a consultation. During the meeting, I’ll listen to your concerns and discuss how this approach can support your child’s unique needs.
If your child is in crisis, your first concern must be their safety. It’s important to call 911 or take them to the nearest emergency room. You can also reach out to a local crisis hotline for immediate support. While I can offer guidance during tough times, emergency services are best equipped to manage crises.
The initial evaluation is an important step where you and your child can share your experiences and worries. In a friendly and welcoming environment, I’ll ask questions about your child’s health, family life, and what they’re going through. This helps me understand their unique situation and work with you both to create a personalized treatment plan that suits your family’s values.
I believe parents play a vital role in supporting their child’s mental health. In my practice, I encourage parents to be involved in discussions and decision-making about treatment. This might include family therapy sessions, learning new strategies to help at home, and getting support to understand your child’s needs better. Together, we can create a team effort in your child’s healing journey.
When discussing medication, I consider your child’s specific symptoms and needs. My approach is careful and thoughtful, weighing the possible benefits against risks. It’s important to involve both you and your child in this decision-making process. If medication is necessary, I monitor its effects closely and provide guidance to ensure your child feels safe and supported.
I offer several types of therapy based on what works best for each child, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to improve coping skills and family systems therapy to enhance communication. Lifestyle coaching helps promote healthy habits, and I also provide parenting strategies for supporting kids with mental health challenges.
Nutrition plays a big role in mental well-being. I focus on how a balanced diet can affect mood and behavior. Helping children understand healthy eating habits and considering supplements when necessary can support their emotional and physical health. This approach is part of a broader strategy to nurture their overall wellness.
Lifestyle coaching helps children develop healthy habits in daily routines. This includes guidance on nutrition, exercise, sleep, and stress management. By encouraging these habits, I aim to lay a strong foundation for your child’s long-term health and happiness.
During our discussions, I prioritize understanding your family values and goals. Together, we can create a treatment plan that respects your beliefs and meets your child’s needs. I believe that involving families in this way is essential for effective and lasting healing, as it ensures everyone feels included and supported.
Yes. I care for the whole person—mind, body, and spirit—and for families who want it, I honor their beliefs and integrate the spiritual dimension into care, respecting Catholic teaching on matters of moral concern. Faith is offered, never imposed; families who prefer a purely clinical approach are equally welcome.
I work with children (ages 4–11), adolescents (ages 12–21), and young adults (ages 22–45), tailoring care to each stage of development.
I diagnose and treat a range of concerns in children, teens, and young adults, including ADHD, anxiety disorders, depression and other mood disorders, disruptive mood dysregulation disorder (DMDD), PTSD, and OCD. Care is tailored to your child’s specific needs, using an integrative plan that may combine therapy, lifestyle changes, and medication when appropriate.
I’m a private-pay, out-of-network practice, which lets me spend meaningful time with each family rather than working within insurance constraints. I provide a superbill you can submit to your insurer to seek out-of-network reimbursement. You can review current fees on my How I Serve page.
